'Rammstein: Paris' will screen in cinemas around the world — including the U.S. — in March this year after being picked up by Picturehouse Entertainment.

Grammy-winning Swedish director Jonas Akerlund's upcoming doc about legendary German heavy metal rockers Rammstein is heading to the big screen.

Rammstein: Paris, shot at the band's sell-out shows at Paris' Bercy Arena in 2012, has been picked up for worldwide rights (excluding Germany, Austria and Switzerland) by Picturehouse Entertainment, the distribution arm of the U.K.'s Picturehouse Cinemas chain, which plans to screen the film in around 350 cinemas internationally, including in the U.S.

Producers describe the concert film as using a radical new approach to capture the emotion and thrill of Rammstein's one-of-a-kind live performance.

"Concert films are always a big challenge," said Akerlund, known for directing music videos including Madonna's Ray of Light and Lady Gaga's Paparazzi, as well as concert films for Beyonce, Jay Z and Taylor Swift.

"I compare it to shooting fireworks. The way I approach it is to try to translate the energy that you get in the room onto film, using every trick in the book to make as much of an impression as I can on the audience."

Akerlund — who also directed one of the segments of Beyonce's Lemonade visual album last year — shot over two nights of Rammstein's show in Paris, using 30 cameras.

"That gives you a massive amount of footage," the director added."This is a two-hour 20-minute show, and I take the footage and cut it with the same precision that I would a 3-4 minute music video. Even with a big crew of editors, it took us over a year to nail down the edit."

Giving some hint as to the anticipation of Rammstein: Paris, the band teased a clip from the film on its official Facebook page on Wednesday, a video that has already been viewed over 1.4 million times.

"Over the last two decades, Rammstein have become one of the world’s biggest rock outfits, and together with Jonas Åkerlund, they have created a unique and thrilling cinematic experience." said Marc Allenby, director of distribution at Picturehouse Entertainment.

Rammstein: Paris will screen in theaters internationally on March 23.
