Jonathan Newman's 'Foster' gets cast

Collette, Gruffudd, Grant set for film from 'Beckham' producer

LONDON -- Toni Collette, Ioan Gruffudd and Richard E. Grant have assembled alongside Anne Reid and Hayley Mills to star in writer director Jonathan Newman's "Foster."

The movie is a Reliance Big Pictures and Starlight Films production in association with Kintop Pictures, Bent Nail and Serendipity Films.

International sales are being repped by Simon Crowe of SC Films International, and the picture starts shooting in and around the British capital this week.

It details the story of a married couple (Collette and Gruffudd) that is struggling to come to terms with the death of their five-year-old son several years before. Trying to adopt, a young boy named Eli appears on their doorstep.

The film is produced by Deepak Nayar ("Bend It Like Beckham") and co-produced by Alice Dawson with David Mutch as executive producer.

Nayar and Newman previously worked together on "Swinging With the Finkels," starring Mandy Moore and Martin Freeman.
