Judd Apatow, Viola Davis to Be Honored at ACLU's Bill of Rights Dinner
Jane Fonda, Gina Rodriguez, Reginald Hudlin and Dolores Huerta are also among the honorees of the Dec. 3 event.
Judd Apatow, Viola Davis, Jane Fonda, Gina Rodriguez, Reginald Hudlin and Dolores Huerta are set to be honored at the ACLU's annual Bill of Rights dinner, which will take place Dec. 3 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel.
The event, a celebration of the ratification of the Bill of Rights, will highlight actors, filmmakers and activists who have made efforts to advocate for civil liberties and civil rights.
"The 2017 honorees represent different aspects of the social justice mission of the ACLU of Southern California, and the values that we are working for. This year marks the 225th anniversary of the Bill of Rights, and it's been a year of many challenges to civil rights and liberties," Hector Villagra, executive director of the ACLU of Southern California, said in a statement.
He continued: "The ACLU remains committed to our founding principles to protect those rights guaranteed in the Constitution for all individuals and groups, and we’re thrilled to see that our membership increased fivefold in the last year, which shows that the need for our work is much both appreciated and supported locally and nationally."
Martin Sheen and Van Jones are also set to make special appearances at the event.
