Carpe diem.

Dame Judi Dench marked her 81st birthday  — permanently — by getting her first tattoo.

The actress debuted her new ink — which reads the Latin phrase, "Carpe Diem," meaning "Seize the Day" — on her right wrist while attending the 60th anniversary gala of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Guildford, England on June 9.

"My daughter Finty gave it to me for my 81st birthday — she’s wonderful with surprises," the 007 star told Surrey Life magazine

Dench has contemplated getting a tattoo before. In an interview with Good Housekeeping, she said, "There’s an Indian symbol that I like, which supposedly represents life and love and everything. One of the cameramen who worked on The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel told me what it meant, but I’m a bit nervous in case I’m being set up… It might be unbelievably rude!"

She's even joked about having a "tattoo" of Harvey Weinstein's name on her bum, too.

"I got my makeup lady to actually write Harvey’s name. [laughs] Then I brought it up at lunch and said, 'You know, I do have it on my bum' — and then I actually got up and showed him!" she told The Hollywood Reporter in 2014. "I’ve never seen a man more embarrassed and I’ve never let him forget it. [laughs] Perhaps I should have it done and really shock him!"

To add a touch of bling, Dench wore a 007 diamond body art around her upper back shoulder. Carpe Diem, indeed.
