Directed by Kyle Rideout, the film follows a socially awkward boy who falls in love and gets a crash course in sex, drugs and mayhem.

Public Schooled, Kyle Rideout’s Toronto-bowing comedy starring Judy Greer, has been picked up by Gravitas Ventures for the U.S., Australia and South Africa. The news was announced by Kaleidoscope Film Distribution and XYZ Films.

Based on an original script co-written by Rideout and Josh Epstein, Public Schooled follows a socially awkward boy who has been homeschooled his entire life. When he falls in love with a popular one-legged girl, he abandons his mother’s suffocating love and enrolls in public school, getting a crash course in sex, drugs and mayhem. Daniel Doheny, Siobhan Williams and Russell Peters also star.

Epstein produced the film, with Adam Folk co-producing and Justine Whyte executive producing. Gravitas will release the film theatrically in the U.S. and Kaleidoscope will release the film theatrically in the U.K.

The deal was negotiated by Josh Spector of Gravitas, Spencer Pollard of Kaleidoscope and Nate Bolotin of XYZ Films.
