Julia Ormond is making her British TV debut.

The Sabrina and Legends of the Fall film star has nabbed the lead role of Julia Day in the BBC drama Gold Digger.

Ormond's character is a mother who has spent her whole life putting the needs of others before herself, only to fall in love with a man 25 years her junior. Gold Digger will explore impact of Day's unconventional relationship on her family, and the secrets of the past revealed.

The six-parter is written and created by Marnie Dickens (Thirteen) and produced by Mainstreet Pictures. "I'm thrilled to have the hugely talented Julia Ormond bringing our heroine to life. I couldn't be happier to be working with the BBC and Mainstreet on a drama that puts an older woman unequivocally at the heart of the action," Dickens said in a statement.

Tim Bradley (Unforgotten, Death in Paradise) will produce and Vanessa Caswill (Little Women, Thirteen) will direct the first three episodes. Gold Digger executive producers are Laura Mackie, Sally Haynes, Elizabeth Kilgarriff and Dickens.

In addition to her Emmy-nominated performance on Mad Men, Ormond's credits include Witches of East End, Temple Grandin and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Ormond is represented by The Gersh Agency, Creative Partners Group and Vox.
