Her facialist Joanna Vargas spills all.

Red carpet after red carpet, Julianne Moore looks flawless. Clearly there are great genes at play, but the other reason? Joanna Vargas, the NYC esthetician to stars including the radiant redhead, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Karlie Kloss and Maggie Gyllenhaal. For a regular client like Moore, she tells Pret-a-Reporter, "in my mind I’m prepping [her] for the Oscars all year."

Vargas continues, "Julianne has incredible skin. With her I have a very specific regimen that really works for her." The immediate Oscar prep starts in NYC with Vargas’ Forever Facial and LED Light Bed, which stimulates collagen production and tightens the skin. "I like to have a few days to do it prior because then you get the benefit of all that collagen production afterward."

Then, on Sunday morning of the Academy Awards, Vargas will give Moore her Triple Crown Facial, which is "de-puffing, toning and tightening. It’s awesome pre-Oscars because I don’t use a ton of products and it really contours the face by draining out the excess water and lifting the muscle." To finish, she uses her Rejuvenating Serum ($100) before any makeup goes on. Her other go-to: Kimberly Snyder’s Glowing Green Smoothie from her Glow Bio shop on Melrose. "It’s great for hydrating and keeping your skin breakout-free."

Vargas adds that her goal with every client — which for Sunday also includes Dewan-Tatum and Brad Goreski — is the most dewy, glowing skin around, since a hydrated complexion means cosmetics go on more evenly. "I think red carpet skin needs to be a balance between hydrated but matte," she says. "Too much shine is never good. Many makeup artists send their clients to me pre-red carpet because it makes a huge difference in what they can do with the skin."
