Just for Laughs to honor Jay Roach

Will receive Director of the Year Award, introduce 'Schmucks'

TORONTO -- Jay Roach is to introduce a sneak preview of "Dinner for Schmucks" at the upcoming Just for Laughs comedy festival, ahead of Paramount releasing the feature comedy, co-produced by DreamWorks and Spyglass Entertainment, on July 23.

Roach will be in Montreal to receive the Just for Laughs Director of the Year Award, and attend the July 15 screening of "Schmucks," which stars Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and Zach Galifianakis.

The Just for Laughs film lineup will also include "Cabotins," from director Alain Desrochers and screenwriter Ian Lauzon, just before a July 23 Quebec theatrical release, and "American: The Bill Hicks Story," a portrait of the late comedian Bill Hicks from directors Matt Harlock and Paul Thomas.

And Montreal has booked the Ben Steinbauer documentary "Winnebago Man" and Seth Owen's "Peepers," which stars Joe Cobden, Paul Spence and Jessica Pare.

Also Just for Laughs bound is director and comedian Ahmed Ahmed and his documentary "Just Like Us," which documents his stand-up act performed across the Middle East.
