Just For Laughs Lauds Jean Paul Gaultier

Fashion parade inspired by French designer to launch Just For Laughs street festival.

TORONTO – A Jean Paul Gaultier-inspired fashion parade will dominate downtown Montreal in July as part of the Just For Laughs comedy festival’s Street Arts sidebar.

Just For Laughs organizers said the ready-to-wear parade created by artist Danielle Roy will pay homage to the famed French fashion designer as it kicks off the festival’s outdoors Carnaval Arts Parade.

The Montreal festival, known as much for its street performances as comedy club showcases, will feature around 1,600 Montrealers donning grandiose costumes and haute coiffure to present eight different styles of popular dance that illustrate Gaultier’s fashion designs.

The industry section of the Just For Laughs comedy festival is set to run from July 28 to 30 in Montreal.
