Just For Laughs Montreal Books Hollywood Stars

Modern Family's Eric Stonestreet, Russell Peters and The Daily Show's Joe Oliver are the latest comedy talent to join the Just For Laughs festival lineup for July.

TORONTO – The starry-eyed Just For Laughs comedy festival on Tuesday tapped Canadian comic sensation Russell Peters, The Daily Show’s John Oliver and Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family) to host high-profile galas in Montreal.

Stonestreet will host the Modern Love: The Relationship Show in Montreal on July 29, with Bob Marley, Debra DiGiovanni, Robert Kelly and Australian comic Tim Minchin performing.

And Oliver is on board to emcee The Decline of the American Empire?! gala on July 31, as the British comic looks to get up the nose of American Tea Party supporters by welcoming on stage Marc Maron, Colin Quinn and Alonzo Bodden.

To celebrate a shift in main-stage galas at Just For Laughs from the uptown Théâtre St. Denis to the Place des Arts downtown, the festival has also asked Canadian comic sensation Russell Peters to host Russell Peters: Best Night Ever, a glitzy gala to air on the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.

The comedy festival has also booked Eddie Izzard, a Just For Laughs favorite, to bring his one-man show Stripped to the Gesù to Montreal.

And Tim Minchin will also return to Montreal with his own solo outing at L’Astral.

Other stand-up talent bound for Montreal includes Craig Ferguson, to host the Craig Ferguson’s International House of Comedy show, featuring international comics.

And Louis CK will return to Just For Laughs to receive the Comedy Person of the Year award.
