Justin Bieber Back on CSI on Thursday (Video)

Last time Bieber appeared on veteran crime drama, it was up more than 40% with teen viewers.

Justin Bieber returns to CSI Feb. 17 at 9 p.m. ET.

He plays troubled teen Jason McCann.

"[My role] started in the first one where I bombed a funeral," Bieber says in a promo clip. "It sounds bad. Then the next one, I'm actually bombing…." CBS cut out the audio before he could reveal any spoilers.

Bieber, who lost out on the best new artist Grammy to Esperanza Spalding Sunday, says he loves the crime drama and enjoys playing the role "because I'm not a bad person, so it's funny to play a bad person."

His dream role would be to do a comedy with Will Ferrell, playing "his son or something like that."

Asked if he prefers singing or acting, Bieber says, "I love performing. So many people feed off the energy. It's just me and the cameras and other actors and actresses…it 's really cool to get into it. Because I'm a crazy kid in that episode. I get into that mindset."

Bieber’s relationship with CSI has been a mutually beneficial one.

In fact, the teen heart-throb has had an anti-aging effect on the veteran crime drama. Bieber’s first episode — last September’s season premiere — averaged a 4.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic, according to most current Nielsen data. That’s 12% higher than the show’s season average in the ad-coveted demo. And among teen viewers, the Bieber episode was up more than 40% averaging a 2.9 rating compared to a season average of just 1.7.
