Justin Long Parodies Social Media Stars in New Funny or Die Comedy Series (Exclusive)
'The Real Stephen Blatt' is being made available exclusively on Amazon through the e-commerce giant's self-distribution program.
Justin Long is exploring the world of social media fame in a new comedy miniseries for Funny or Die.
The F is for Family actor stars in The Real Stephen Blatt, a parody of online stardom that centers on a 16-year-old who becomes obsessed with social media after receiving an iPhone for his birthday. Long co-created the series with his brother Christian Long in collaboration with the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida.
Funny or Die is distributing the the eight-episode short-form series, not on its website but via Amazon Prime. The comedy company, which was started by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Chris Henchy, is making the show available to Prime subscribers through Amazon Video Direct, a self-distribution platform launched last year. Funny or Die already makes other videos available on Prime via the program, including The Very Best of Will Ferrell, The Very Best of James Franco, Drunk History and Between Two Ferns.
"We have seen tremendous success with introducing Funny or Die content to the Amazon Prime viewers," Brian Toombs, vp partner content at Funny or Die, said. "The audience really embraced our programming and we are excited to premiere The Real Stephen Blatt series exclusively on Prime Video."
Amazon Video Direct launched in May 2016 with partners including HowStuffWorks, TYT Network and Conde Nast Entertainment. Funny or Die is making Stephen Blatt available via this program for no extra charge to Prime subscribers, who pay $99 a year for perks including free two-day shipping. All eight episode of Stephen Blatt are now available to stream on Prime.
