Justin Timberlake Surprises Selfie Kid (Again) on 'Ellen'
The 13-year-old revealed more about how he ended up in the right place at the right time during the Super Bowl.
Ryan McKenna, the 13-year-old #SelfieKid who went viral earlier this week after taking an iconic selfie with Super Bowl performer Justin Timberlake, got a second chance to meet up with his picture pal on Friday (Feb. 9).
McKenna stopped by the Ellen show, wearing his Patriots jersey of course, and spoke about the moment that turned him into an instant meme. “I got myself there, I pushed through. I was elbowing people but I got there. I was there with him,” he said of the selfie moment. He also confirmed that he saw all of the memes that were made with the selfie.
The teen then met JT for a second time over the phone. “It’s nice to meet you, finally.” Timberlake said.
“I knew that I wanted to end the performance with ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’ cause I knew how people respond to that song," the singer added. The performance video then cut to Ryan and, as we all saw, the moment was immortalized forever.
Timberlake then invited McKenna and his family to the Massachusetts date of his Man Of The Woods tour, which kicks off next month. “I look forward to our second selfie together,” Timberlake told McKenna. The teen was also gifted with an NFL prize pack.
The “Filthy” star also mentioned to DeGeneres that he sent her a special signal during the performance, “You told me to rub my belly in a sexual way, which is counterintuitive to me, but I feel like I worked it in there.”
