Kaia Gerber Unveils First Chanel Campaign
The 16-year-old runway star appears in Chanel's spring 2018 handbag ads.
Chanel has unveiled its spring-summer 2018 handbag campaign, starring none other than runway superstar Kaia Gerber in her first ads for the French fashion house. The campaign was shot by Karl Lagerfeld at Mademoiselle Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s apartment at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris, where Gerber lounges on a suede sofa with quilted cushions, clutching various handbags.
Showcased in the ads by the storied French fashion house are the 11.12 bag in an embroidered riff on the label’s trademark tweed and in multicolored transparent PVC, along with the latest takes on the Gabrielle and Boy Chanel handbags.
Last month it was announced that the 16-year-old Gerber is also teaming up with Lagerfeld on a capsule collection of apparel and accessories for his eponymous label, due to hit Karl Lagerfeld stores and select wholesalers in September.
No surprise that the daughter of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber has been ruling fall-winter 2018 fashion week runways. In Milan, she walked in the Versace, Prada, Fendi, Moschino and MaxMara shows, following New York appearances at Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, Alexander Wang, Anna Sui, Bottega Veneta and Tom Ford. With Paris Fashion Week just getting started, people are sure to see a lot more of her — the Chanel show is scheduled for Tuesday, March 6.
