Kali Hawk joining cast of 'We the Peeples'

Lionsgate comedy is directorial debut of screenwriter Tina Gordon Chism


Kali Hawk is joining the cast of We the Peeples, the Lionsgate comedy that serves as the directorial debut of screenwriter Tina Gordon Chism.

The story follows what happens when a child psychologist (Craig Robinson) who, under the impression of his girlfriend's family is impossibly perfect, surprises her (Kerry Washington) by showing up at the political family's annual get-together at their Sag Harbor vacation home only to find them desperately in need of therapy.

Hawk plays Washington's sister, a successful newscaster on CNN recently embedded with troops in Afghanistan.

Tyler Perry will produce the film through his 34th Street Films along with the company's Ozzie Areu and Matt Moore. Paul Hall and Stephanie Allainare also producing.

Peeplesshoots in Connecticut in November.

Hawk, repped by UTA and Genesis Entertainment Partners, stole scenes in Universal's Couples Retreat. She also has three movies in the can: Answers to Nothing, Let Go and Judd Apatow's Bridesmaids.
