Kanye West Tweets That His New Album Is Due in Summer
The rapper also confirms that his Jay-Z collaboration is on schedule, and a video for his new single 'All of the Lights' is due in a week.
When he wasn't watching his hometown football team, the Chicago Bears, lose to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night (Jan. 23), Kanye West took to Twitter to reveal his plans for 2011, which apparently include the release of his sixth album.
"MY NEW ALBUM COMING THIS SUMMER," West tweeted yesterday afternoon, after writing that he was "in the studio" watching the NFL playoff game.
In addition to issuing the follow-up to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy -- which has sold 941,000 copies since its November release, according to Nielsen SoundScan -- the rapper wrote that his joint album with Jay-Z, Watch the Throne, will be released "in two months" as expected. West also announced that the music video for "All of the Lights," his latest Fantasy single which clocks in at No. 74 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, will debut in one week. That clip follows the leak of an unfinished version of West's "Monster" video, which thus far has not been replaced with a finished version. (Perhaps West conceded that a fan-created video remix starring the Muppets, which he pointed to on Twitter last month, could not be topped).
West's announcements follow a lengthy rant on the micro-blogging site last week, in which he blasted the media for twisting a good-natured joke about Britney Spears into a "Twitter war." The rapper also posted a collection of his song titles on Twitter as a possible "Coachella set list," after he was announced as a headliner for the California music festival last week.
