'Karate Kid III' actor charged with DUI

Actor Sean Kanan, who appeared in "Karate Kid III" and several television series, has been charged with driving under the influence, authorities said Wednesday.

Kanan was arrested Aug. 18. He faces charges of misdemeanor DUI and driving with a blood-alcohol level above the state limit of .08%, said city attorney spokesman Frank Mateljan.

Details of his arrest were not released. An after-hours call to Kanan's agent was not returned.

The actor was scheduled to appear in court Monday, Mateljan said.

Kanan played Ralph Macchio's nemesis in "Karate Kid III." His TV credits include "The Bold and the Beautiful," "General Hospital" and "The Outsiders."
