Kardashian Hairstylist Launches Shampoo for Pampered Hollywood Pooches
She's worked with Chrissy Teigen and the Kardashians.
A custom raw diet and daily pack hikes are basic upkeep for Hollywood's pampered pets. And now, our furry friends can have luxe manes on par with those of their fashion-conscious owners.
Celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin, longtime tress tamer to the Kardashians, Jenners and Hadids, has added a pet shampoo to her product line Ouai.
Packed with ingredients including apple cider vinegar, aloe leaf juice and tamarind seed extract, plus the same signature scent that goes into the people products (an addictive aroma called “Mercer Street”), the formula has a time-release technology that promises to effectively fight odors.
“We wanted to create a gentle shampoo that not only fought odor and cleaned, but also smelled good," says Atkin.
At the end of a hectic week of jetting off for shoots, Atkin says she often winds down by playing with the rescue dogs at Vanderpump Pets in Los Angeles. She was inspired to create the product after spending time at the bright pink store and nonprofit foundation started by Vanderpump Rules and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump, whose charity will receive 15 percent of all sales of the limited-edition shampoo.
At $28, the price may sound a bit steep, but the formulation took six months to perfect and is geared specifically to keep coats grime free, says Atkin, who also works with Chrissy Teigen. And remember: pets are influencers, too.
