Karel de Vries named MD at Universal Holland

Formerly sales director at WB Holland

AMSTERDAM -- Karel de Vries, sales director of Warner Bros. Holland, has been appointed managing director of Universal Pictures International's Dutch operation. He replaces Max Van Praag, UPI's general manager for the Netherlands, who is leaving after 23 years.

In his new position, De Vries will be responsible for the theatrical marketing and distribution strategies and activities for all theatrical titles under the Universal banner throughout Holland.

De Vries is the second director to leave Warner Bros. Holland in 2008. Three months ago, managing director Wilco Wolfers left the company for independent distributor A-Film.
