Kaleidoscope Entertainment inks a deal to roll out the romantic comedy starring the former "Doctor Who" assistant.

LONDON -- Kaleidoscope Entertainment has picked up U.K. distribution rights to the Scottish romantic comedy Not Another Happy Ending, starring former Doctor Who assistant Karen Gillan.

The movie also features Stanley Weber (Therese), Kate Dickie (Prometheus), Gary Lewis (Gangs of New York) and Henry Ian Cusick (Lost).

It details the story of a struggling maverick publisher who discovers that his only successful author, Jane Lockhart (Gillan), has writer's block because she's happy. The worse the publisher makes her feel, the more he realizes he is in love with her.

Directed by John McKay (Crush), Not Another Happy Ending is produced by Claire Mundell (Crying With Laughter) of Synchronicity Films, co-produced by Wendy Griffin (Wasted) and written by David Solomons (Five Children and It).

It is backed by British Film Company, Creative Scotland and BBC Scotland.

The title is set for release in the U.K. in October, followed by a DVD rollout in early 2014.
