All you need is two Dior lipsticks.

Now that summer is officially over — not that scorching Los Angeles seems to have gotten the memo — 'tis the season for red lips. For her look at a Dior Homme cocktail party on Thursday night at Chateau Marmont, which was also attended by Orlando Bloom, Kate Bosworth wore perhaps the best shade we've seen in a while.

"For Kate’s look we decided to focus on the lip, [the] perfect complement to her simple, chic black Dior tuxedo dress," says makeup artist Pati Dubroff, who works with Natalie Portman and Charlize Theron. "I’ve been obsessed with pomegranates lately, they are in season here in California, and they are the most beautiful shades of red — rich and dark, but still very vibrant."

In an ode to the pomegranate, Dubroff gave the actress a monochromatic face, with a hint of the reddish tone on her eye and, of course, a full-blown deep red lip. To that end, "I mixed two of the new Dior Addict Lipstick shades to mimic the variants on tones in a pomegranate," she says. "I first applied the darker berry-toned shade Gotha #967 ($35), and then layered the bright red shade Too Much #951 on top." Juicy.
