FX is expanding its animation push.
The cable network has promoted Kate Lambert to senior vp series development and animation.
In her new role, Lambert will oversee the development of animated original series and shortform animated programs for FX Networks. The promotion comes after FX announced plans to increase its animation output for both the flagship network and younger-skewing FXX, which is home to The Simpsons repeats. Lambert will also continue to develop live-action series for both nets.
"From Archer to Atlanta, Kate has done an extraordinary job of developing some of FX’s signature shows and we are thrilled she will be taking an even greater role in guiding the networks’ programming,” FX presidents of original programming Eric Schrier and Nick Grad said. “Kate is among the best in the business at forming relationships with the most sought-after producers, writers and talent, and this will be invaluable as we continue to build on FX Networks’ slate of acclaimed and award-winning live-action and animated series.”
During her time at FX, Lambert has developed and overseen animated entry Archer, which this season took home its first Emmy for outstanding animated program. She was also involved in the development of pilots for series including The Americans, Sons of Anarchy, The Strain, Justified, American Horror Story, The League, Wilfred and Louie. More recently, she helped develop Donald Glover's critical darling Atlanta. Before joining FX, she worked at HBO and CAA.
