Kathy Griffin Heckles Megyn Kelly's Speech at THR Event
The Fox News anchor defended the President-elect at THR's Women in Entertainment event: "Despite the tweets and all the rest of it, there is much to admire about Donald Trump."
Kathy Griffin had some problems with Megyn Kelly's hopeful outlook for a Trump presidency.
At The Hollywood Reporter's annual Women in Entertainment breakfast Wednesday, Kelly revealed that she has "high hopes" for Trump's turn in the White House. The message was surprising to some, as the Kelly File host has been on the receiving end of Twitter attacks from Trump and death threats from his supporters after she confronted him about his sexist comments at a debate in 2015.
"Despite the tweets and all the rest of it, there is much to admire about Donald Trump," she said. Griffin expressed her opinion in the room of power women, raising her middle finger at Kelly from the crowd as some also booed.
Kelly joked that Omarosa Manigault, who held a thumbs-up following her statement, would "hurt" Griffin and anyone who continued to boo.
Griffin even tweeted video of the incident, saying she just "HAD to boo the mention of Prez d bag."
"There's room for the loyal opposition in this country," Kelly continued as the room quieted. "As women, we must reject the urge to fight with pigs — which gets us dirty and the pigs enjoy. But if a fight is unavoidable, then fight … with composure, and grace. And we let our children see us do it — standing tall and sometimes playing hurt."
