She'll take over hosting duties for the suspended NBC anchor at the Robin Hood Foundation's May 12 benefit.

This story first appeared in the April 24 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine.

Tapped to host the annual gala of the Robin Hood Foundation, a leading poverty-fighting charity in New York, is Katie Couric, a new member of the board that also includes Harvey Weinstein and Sony's Doug Morris. She replaces suspended NBC anchor Brian Williams, a longtime supporter and board member.

While a source indicated otherwise, Robin Hood rep Patty Smith says the emcee sub has nothing to do with his recent scandal: "While Brian has done hosting duties in the past — along with former board members such as Diane Sawyer and Tom Brokaw — we look forward to having our current board member Katie Couric display her considerable talents at this year's benefit on May 12." Williams will remain on the emeritus board.
