Katy Perry Goes To War in 'Part of Me' Video
The singer sheds her girly-girl image in military garb, purportedly making a statement on her divorce from Russell Brand.
The new music video for Katy Perry’s song "Part of Me," which she performed on the Grammys, will premiere Wednesday on MTV.
In addition to the video debut, she will also sit down with MTV News for a 30-minute chat to promote her forthcoming album, Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection (out March 26), and her upcoming 3D concert movie, Katy Perry: Part of Me.
Meanwhile, Perry appears to have joined the Marines and totally changed her girly-girly pop-candy image.
Photos from the "Part of Me" video shot on a military base in California show soldiers, guns, night vision and some rough-and-tumble boot camp footage. Perry's pretty face is painted in camouflage makeup and she sports camo gear while wrestling in the mud.
Perry claims that she wrote the song two years ago but didn't record it. And, yes, it has definitely become eerily relevant now, considering her sudden split from ex-husband of 14 months, Russell Brand.
