Kaya Yanar inks three-pic deal at Constantin
Stand-up comedian will write, star in all three filmsCOLOGNE, Germany -- Constantin Film has signed a three-picture deal with German comedian Kaya Yanar, famous here for his cross-cultural comedy that pokes fun both at German intolerance and ethnic stereotypes.
Yanar will write the screenplays for, and will star in, all three films, the first of which is planned for a Christmas 2010 release.
In addition to being one of Germany's most successful stand-ups, Yanar hosted a hit TV show, "Was guckst Du?!" (What you looking at?), which was nominated for an international Emmy in 2001.
Constantin is hot off the success of another stand-up-to-screen transition, that of comedian Mario Barth, whose feature film debut, "Mannersache" (Man's Business), was the most successful German release so far this year.
