The pop star's latest single is a rallying cry for social justice, written specifically for the upcoming Felicity Jones-starrer 'On the Basis of Sex.'

Kesha on Wednesday released the music video for her latest single, "Here Comes the Change," which is featured in On the Basis of Sex, Focus Features' upcoming biopic about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

The black-and-white visual — directed by Jonas Akerland, who also collaborated with Kesha on the video for her Grammy-nominated song "Praying" — shows the singer strumming her guitar, playing the harmonica and delivering powerful vocals. A rallying cry for social justice, lyrics for the track include: "Oh it's hard, I know it's hard/ To be the right inside the wrong/ Hold on tight, we'll be alright/ You know it's time."

Interspersed are scenes from On the Basis of Sex, showing a young Ginsburg (played by Felicity Jones) and her husband, Marty (Armie Hammer), working together to bring a groundbreaking case before the U.S. Court of Appeals and overturn a century of gender discrimination against women.

"Here Comes the Change," written specifically for the film, was penned by Kesha, Drew Pearson and Stephen Wrabel. Mimi Leder, director of On the Basis of Sex, said she sought out Kesha to write and perform this song "because her passionate voice and immense talent magnify the social justice imperatives Ruth Bader Ginsburg continues to fight for every day."

Back in September, Kesha opened up about the message of equality and empowerment she hopes is conveyed in "Here Comes the Change."

"I wanted to explore the legacy of political activists in our country throughout the years who have fought for equality and positive change," the pop star wrote in a piece for Refinery29. "The message is that the long, proud tradition of American social activism is alive and well. It’s being passed on to the next generation. It will continue to evolve one success at a time, and is as important as ever."

The music video release for "Here Comes the Change" comes not even a month after Kesha dropped another politically charged single, "Safe," an anti-gun violence anthem and collaboration with her brother, Sage Sebert, and Alabama rapper Chika. Kesha also penned a stirring op-ed for Teen Vogue to accompany the premiere of "Safe," in which she explained her motivation behind making the song and partnering with March for Our Lives.

"We are forced to lie to children because the truth is too nonsensical," Kesha wrote. "The truth is that politicians seem to be too scared for their own jobs and donation sources to try to do anything significant to prevent these awful shootings from happening again."
