Keshet International Buys TV Investment Group Greenbird Media
Keshet has acquired a majority stake in the British production company incubator, which owns equity stakes in television production firms, including Big Light Productions ('The Man in the High Castle').
Production and sales outfit Keshet International has taken a majority stake in Greenbird Media, a British-based group that owns stakes in various TV production companies.
Keshet acquired the 30 percent in Greenbird previously owned by BBC Worldwide and has increased its own stake in the London-based firm.
Greenbird, set up by joint managing directors Jamie Munro and Stuart Mullin in 2012, owns stakes and works with more than a dozen independent production firms — providing capital for producers to produce while Greenbird focuses on growing the company's business. In 2014 the group took a 5 percent stake in Big Light Productions, established by Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files, The Man in the High Castle).
As part of the Keshet deal, Keshet International becomes the distribution partner for the independent production companies backed by Greenbird. Keshet International is the global production and distribution arm of Israeli television giant Keshet Media.
“We would like to thank BBC Worldwide for believing in us at our inception,” said Munro. “Now it’s time for us to take our next step. We are excited about working with Keshet International, who are a like-minded, successful, international partner with an inherent commercial drive, which will help us to continue to deliver the support we provide for the amazing production companies we work with.”
The deal, announced Monday, was brokered by Sammy Nourmand, Keshet's MD for U.K. and West Europe, Keshet’s head of business affairs Viktor Vakrat and Keshet CFO Sigal Alboher and by Munro and Mullin for Greenbird Media.
