Kevin Hart, David Beckham Hit the Road for New H&M Campaign
Reunited, and it feels so good.
Comedian Kevin Hart and retired soccer star David Beckham are at it again as fashion’s newest comedic pair, joining forces once again in a new campaign for the fall /winter 16 collection of H&M’s menswear line, Modern Essentials selected by Beckham.
Ahead of the campaign’s full release on September 26, the fashion giant released a teaser on Thursday depicting the unlikely duo on a road trip to Vegas to meet financiers for a fictional “I, Beckham: The Musical,” starring Hart. The storyline picks up where brand’s last campaign with the pair left off in 2015, with Hart cast to play the world-famous athlete in a biopic film.
"I loved shooting the first campaign with Kevin for H&M so much that we just had to do a sequel. This time we’ve pushed the story even further. I hope everyone likes it. We certainly enjoyed filming it,” said Beckham in a statement.
Hart’s commitment to play Beckham is revived in the latest commercial, with the men dressed in two matching all-black looks from the new line, including a block-stripe knit sweater and a flying jacket with a fake fur collar, paired with a turtleneck. The line, which launched last year, showcases Beckham’s top wardrobe essentials each season.
“It’s great to have the opportunity once more to show the world what everyone really knows, that I am the true inspiration for David Beckham’s style. He copies everything from me,” joked Hart.
Directed by Fredrik Bond (who was also behind Beckham’s last two commercials for the fast-fashion brand), the commercial was shot outside Los Angeles in May. At the time, Beckham dropped hints about the upcoming campaign with a photo of himself and Hart, captioned, “Back together again.”
Timed to the debut of the film, and ahead of the fall/winter collection hitting stores on September 29, Beckham will also make an in-store appearance on September 26 at H&M’s Fig at 7th location in downtown Los Angeles, starting at 4:30 p.m.
