The appointment follows the acquisition of 'Ransom' producer Sienna Films and a stake in U.K.-based Awesome Media to expand the scripted division.

Kew Media Group has expanded its scripted TV division by naming former Entertainment One and 3 Arts Entertainment exec Carrie Stein as executive vp global scripted series.

Based in Los Angeles, Stein joins the indie producer after it bought a stake in Jeff Norton's U.K.-based Awesome Media & Entertainment, creator of Metawars and other IP set to be adapted into primetime TV series. Toronto-based Kew Media and Norton will bring his novels and other character franchises to life as TV series, with WME on board with packaging.

Kew Media also recently acquired Cardinal producer Sienna Films. Stein was most recently executive vp global productions for eOne, overseeing international co-productions including CBS' Ransom, the Amy Poehler-produced Welcome to Sweden for NBC, BET's The Book of Negroes and Gap Year for Channel 4 and Hulu.

Stein also had earlier executive stints at Alchemy Television and ICM. "There’s never been more opportunity to work with both seasoned talent and new voices to bring distinct stories to the small screen," Stein said in a statement.
