Kim Cattrall Tweets Support for Cynthia Nixon's Governor Bid
Kristin Davis tweeted her enthusiastic support as soon as Nixon confirmed her plans to run.
Cynthia Nixon's surprise run to be governor of New York has divided and excited people in equal measure. Allies of the incumbent Governor Andrew Cuomo as well as New York pols wasted no time in attacking the Sex and the City star's credentials, with one describing Nixon as an "unqualified lesbian."
Despite the expected attacks from Albany and the professional political class, Nixon has been able to rely on support from her SATC co-stars. Kristin Davis, in typical Charlotte fashion, was immensely supportive as soon as Nixon officially announced she was running. Davis reposted Nixon's campaign video on Instagram and added a note that said: “@cynthiaenixon is stepping up to run for Governor of NY. I am thrilled to support her and I know that she cares deeply about the issues facing all of us. I’m so proud of her and I know she will work tirelessly to create change for all who need representation.”
Davis also tweeted that: 'I am so proud of @CynthiaNixon , no one cares more than she does about EVERY person getting a fair change and a good education. I know that she would be an excellent Governor!'
Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha on SATC, also tweeted about Nixon's move into politics, although she stopped short of a full-throated endorsement. Replying to question on Twitter, Cattrall wrote: “I support & respect any former colleague’s right to make their own career choices.”
Cattrall's support comes despite her very public feud with Sarah Jessica Parker, who is the only member of the main cast who has yet to go public on Nixon's news.
