Kim doing business for Discovery


Clara Kim has been named executive vp at Discovery Communications, where she will oversee the development of the network's business affairs and production management strategies.

"Clara is a proven leader in the media business, with a wealth of experience in the U.S. and international markets across key areas, including development and production, programming acquisitions, digital media and intellectual property," global business and operations president Mark Hollinger said. "Clara will be a key adviser as we expand Discovery's world-leading array of original programming."

In her new post, Kim will be responsible for overseeing programming acquisitions for the network as well as its digital platforms. She also will serve as an adviser to senior management on content deals, intellectual property and more.

Kim joins Discovery from Viacom, where she served as senior vp and general counsel for MTV Networks Entertainment Group's online businesses and Spike TV. While at Viacom, Kim held several executive positions, including senior vp and general counsel for Nickelodeon Online, vp international development at MTV Networks and vp, counsel for original programming at Showtime Networks. She will be based at the company's global headquarters in Silver Spring, Md., and report to Hollinger.
