Kim to lead Fantastic festival

Inha professor to head Korea's second-largest intl festival

SEOUL -- Kim Young-bin, a film professor at Inha University, was newly appointed as the festival director of the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival, replacing Han Sang-jun, the previous head. The festival’s organizing committee made the decision during a recent general meeting, the festival reported.

Kim, a director-turned-professor, began his film career as the production staff of Im Kwon-taek’s film “Ticket” and made his debut with “Kim’s War” in 1992. Since then, he directed local blockbusters including “Terrorist” and “Fire Bird” ("Bulsae").

PIFAN is the nation's second-largest international festival, and this year takes place in July 15-26. In 2008, the festival launched its first project market, the Network of Asian Fantastic Films.
