Cheeky Boutique Kitson Is Closing All 17 Stores

Someone alert Paris Hilton.

Beloved L.A. boutique Kitson is shuttering all 17 of its store locations in California, Nevada and Oregon, the L.A. Times revealed Friday morning. The cheeky retailer first opened its doors on Robertson Boulevard in 2000.

Known for its slightly offensive tchotchkes and quirky — not to mention, pricey — L.A. souvenir trinkets, the kitschy retailer was a go-to destination for starlets like Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie during its heyday in the early aughts

However, thanks to online competition in the market of ironic slogan sweaters ("Twerkin' for a Birkin" and "Netflix and Chill," for example), the retailer has suffered in the past few years. In 2013, Kitson received a $15 million line of credit, however it appears they were unable to turn things around. 

The company's website currently advertises a "Big Ass In-Store Sale," with all merchandise 30 to 50 percent off.
