'Knight' to be released on DVD, Blu-ray Dec. 9

DVD available as single-disc or special edition

At last, it's official: "The Dark Knight," the biggest movie of the year--and the biggest domestic theatrical grosser since "Titanic"--will be out on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in time for the holidays.

Warner Home Video is releasing the "Batman" sequel, which earned $527.4 million in U.S. theaters, on Dec. 9. The film will be available as a single-disc DVD as well as a two-disc special edition loaded with extras, and in a limited-run two-disc collector's edition boxed set that includes a replica of the Batpod.

"Dark Knight" also will be released on the high-definition Blu-ray Disc format with BD-Live technology, which lets users connect to the Web to access a variety of interactive features, from additional content downloaded from the Web to interactions over the Internet with fellow fans. The Blu-ray Disc version will also be available on its own or as part of a gift set with toy Batpod.
