Korean indies set for IPTV

Films will receive simultaneous release in cinema, VOD

SEOUL – A lineup of Korean indie films will be released simultaneously in theaters and IPTV for the first time.

Local distributor Kino Eye will host a screening of nine films including “American Zombie” by Grace Lee ("The Grace Lee Project") and “Marlboro War” by Myeong Jung-oh in local arthouse theaters and myLGtv, a video-on-demand-based IPTV service by LG Dacom, on July 23rd.

The release will provide wider access of indie films for local audiences who live in areas where arthouse cinemas are not available.

Last year, Kino Eye released “Sleeping Beauty,” a low-budget indie film by Lee Han-ah, both online and theaters. In two months, more than 10,000 people paid to view the film.
