Major Tilda Swinton vibes.

The Look: An oxblood tuxedo jacket and matching tapered trousers by Sandro, styled sans shirt and topped with a navel-grazing pendant.

The Wearer: Kristen Stewart, who was styled by THR power stylist Tara Swennen

The Event: The New York Film Festival premiere of Certain Women on Monday evening, where Stewart was joined on the red carpet by Michelle Williams and Laura Dern.

Why It's Important: The longtime Chanel ambassador has consistently injected her edgy aesthetic into the French fashion house's heavily embellished looks, creating a red-carpet style for herself that is all her own in a sea of Gucci sameness. But with its sharp lines and crisp tailoring, her latest ensemble — a Tilda Swinton-esque suit by Sandro, not Chanel — seems her most apt look in quite some time. Her decision to go bare beneath the tuxedo jacket (besides a chain pendant, that is) added an element of effortless sex appeal, while her red lip and heavily lined smoky eye infused her signature edgy rock star vibe.

Photos from the evening's red carpet reveal a more playful side of Stewart, in which she is making faces and posing for the photogs. Whereas the 26-year-old is generally camera-averse, she was hamming it up — a clear sign that she was feeling herself on Monday night.
