Kru to finish Malaysia studio in 2009

'Deadline' producer to spend $20 mil on the site

BANGKOK -- A $20 million high-definition film, TV and advertising production studio will be open for business in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in the fourth quarter of 2009, KRU Studios said Tuesday.

The 15-acre production and postproduction facility at the government-owned Cyberjaya site will feature two soundstages of 10,000 square feet and 2,500 square feet, respectively, color grading and sound mixing suites, and 3-D animation and visual effects facilities.

KRU Studios Cyberjaya will serve as home to the production of KRU Studios' slate of motion pictures for the domestic and international markets.

"We are looking forward to providing a 'One-Stop Solution' for end-to-end production of feature films, TV programs and TV commercials," KRU president and group CEO Norman Abdul Halim said.

Kru recently co-produced its first English-language film, the Brittany Murphy starrer "Deadline."
