Kwapis lands date with NL for 'Into You'

Ken Kwapis has signed on to direct "He's Just Not That Into You" for New Line Cinema. Drew Barrymore and Nancy Juvonen are producing through their Flower Films.

"Into You" is based on the best-selling book that is a social commentary about modern-day relationships and how men and women often misconstrue the intentions of the opposite sex. The book was written by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo, who worked together on "Sex and the City" as a consultant and writer, respectively.

The movie's story line sees a hard-line advice guy fall for a woman who seeks him out because she can't figure out the men in her life. Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein, who wrote the Barrymore starrer "Never Been Kissed," wrote the adaptation.

Overseeing for New Line are production executives Michele Weiss and Michael Disco.

Kwapis directed the upcoming comedy "License to Wed," starring Robin Williams, Mandy Moore and John Krasinski. The movie is scheduled to be released by Warner Bros. Pictures on July 4. Other feature credits include "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and "He Said, She Said." He also has directed episodes of NBC's "The Office."

Kwapis is repped by UTA and Code Entertainment.
