"I'm not here to try & encourage people/young girls to look like me."

Even though she has denied several times that she has had any kind of lip-enhancing procedures and insists that her lips are "naturally" full, teens still dying to achieve Kylie Jenner's look have gone to new extremes in the pursuit of the perfect pout. The #KylieJennerChallenge is a do-it-yourself procedure that has fans inserting their lips into shot glasses and water bottles and sucking hard to create a vacuum, which causes swelling similar to the results of a cosmetic injection. But like most homegrown beauty experiments involving teenagers, some of the challenges have gone horribly, horribly wrong.

Photos of bruised, swollen and split lips now are trending on Twitter with the hashtag #KylieJennerChallengeGoneWrong, and the disturbing photos have caused quite a media stir — with many criticizing Jenner's large lips in the process. The reality star took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon to respond, saying in a series of tweets: "I'm not here to try & encourage people/young girls to look like me or to think this is the way they should look. (Cont...) I want to encourage people/young girls like me to be YOURSELF & not be afraid to experiment w your look."

The 17-year-old has claimed in the past that her extra-full lips in her Instagram selfies are mostly the result of practicing her pout and makeup. Unfortunately, teens probably still will look for new ways to achieve the look, but hopefully, in the future, they'll find methods that don't require medical attention.
