Her stylist, Monica Rose, talks about how they arrived at the sexy Balmain number.

There was a lot of nakedness on the VMAs red carpet Sunday night. But Kylie Jenner was not one of the celebrities whose ensembles didn’t allow them to wear bras and panties — in fact, her Balmain dress was double lined "because you could see through it," her stylist, Monica Rose, tells Pret-a-Reporter.

Additionally, they had to take it in at the waist. "Kylie’s waist is tiny," she adds. The process leading up to the choice of the resort 2016 number was pretty simple. "We had a rack of options and narrowed it down to two before this dress was selected," Rose tells us.

What they were looking for was something "short, fun and sexy with a bit of edge." Gold wasn’t an option since they didn’t want anything too close to Jenner’s ESPY red-carpet look. Rose says Kylie was attracted to "the color and texture of the dress. She thought it was cool and different. The dress is made with intricate rope detailing — pretty epic, especially in person."

Rose, for one, was excited to get her hands on the frock, since it was her favorite from the entire collection.

"Olivier Rousteing is a genius and never ceases to take each season to the next level," says the super-stylist, who also works with Kendall Jenner and Khloe Kardashian. As for the rest of the on-point ensemble, there were matching Balmain shoes, a Rauwolf clutch — "to complete the monochromatic look" — and a mix of rose gold diamond rings by Shay Jewelry. Way to go, Jenner, for proving it’s OK to cover up just a little.
