Kyra Sedgwick Joins Bill Skarsgard in Comedy Thriller 'Villains'

Jeffrey Donovan also stars in the pic based on a script by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen that was on the 2016 Black List.

Kyra Sedgwick and Burn Notice star Jeffrey Donovan have joined Villains, a dark comedy-thriller from The Realm and Star Thrower Entertainment, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Dan Berk and Robert Olsen, who wrote the script that was on the 2016 Black List, will direct, with Bill Skarsgard and Maika Monroe also starring. Sedgwick, who recently earned a DGA directing nomination for Lifetime's Story of a Girl, also starred in the ABC series Ten Days in the Valley.

Donovan, who toplined seven seasons of USA's Burn Notice, is also set to join Zac Efron in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, the drama centering on serial killer Ted Bundy.

Villains centers on a pair of amateur criminals who, after breaking into a suburban home, stumble upon a young girl chained in the basement and two sadistic homeowners who will do anything to keep that secret from getting out. Tim White and Trevor White are producing via their company Star Thrower, which was involved in Steven Spielberg's The Post and also produced Matt Spicer's Film Independent Spirit Award-winning Ingrid Goes West.

Star Thrower production head Allan Mandelbaum is also producing, as is Garrick Dion of Realm, whose latest movie, Prospect, will premiere later this month at SXSW. Bron's Aaron L. Gilbert and Creative Wealth Media's Jason Cloth are executive producing.

Rick Rickertsen and Mary Solomon are co-producing. Endeavor Content is representing North American rights.

Sedgwick is repped by CAA and Impression Entertainment. Donovan is repped by WME and 3 Arts Entertainment.
