'Roma' Named Best Picture by L.A. Film Critics Association

Ethan Hawke, Olivia Colman, Steven Yeun and Regina King won the acting prizes in the vote, which took place Sunday.

The Los Angeles Film Critics Association on Sunday met to determine their picks for the year's best in film. 

The group announced that voting had begun via Twitter early on Sunday morning. 

Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro director Hayao Miyazaki was honored with the career achievement award.

Last year's winner was Call Me by Your Name, which went on to earn a best picture nomination from the Academy Awards. Sean Baker's The Florida Project was the runner-up, but the indie film failed to garner a best picture Oscar nom.
