LaBeouf taking a ride with 'Indy 4'

It's official. Shia LaBeouf has joined the cast of the fourth installment of the Indiana Jones adventures.

Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett and Ray Winstone already have joined the cast of the untitled film being referred to as "Indy 4," which will be produced by Lucasfilm Ltd., directed by Steven Spielberg and released by Paramount Pictures day-and-date worldwide May 22, 2008.

"I was hoping the rumors were true," LaBeouf said. "To be cast in an Indiana Jones film is like grabbing the brass ring and holding on for the ride."

Details of the film, penned by David Koepp, have been kept top-secret, and Spielberg and George Lucas did not reveal any information about the character LaBeouf will play when making the announcement Friday.

Shooting on "Indy 4" is scheduled to start in June in Los Angeles and also will film at undisclosed locations worldwide.

In casting LaBeouf, Spielberg dipped into the DreamWorks well, as the actor stars in two DreamWorks' films: "Disturbia," currently in theaters, and the summer tentpole "Transformers."

Frank Marshall will produce the film with Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy serving as executive producers.

LaBeouf, whose credits include "Bobby," "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints," and HBO's Project Greenlight production "The Battle of Shaker Heights," is repped by Endeavor.
