He comes to Laika from NBCUniversal in London.

Laika, the Portland, Ore.-based animation studio behind titles such as Coraline and upcoming Kubo and the Two Strings, on Monday announced the appointment of Bradley Wald as CFO and senior vp business operations.

Wald will be responsible for leading Laika’s business operations as the studio continues to grow its roster of animated features. He was most recently chief commercial officer of international TV production at NBCUniversal in London.

“As we embark on our second decade as a company, Brad becomes my partner in guiding Laika to a bold new future and more awesome movies,” Laika president-CEO Travis Knight said in a statement.

Wald's career has included managing NBCU’s commercial activities surrounding Downton Abbey, in addition to working closely with distribution and home entertainment teams to expand the show’s global reach.

He previously was managing director and senior vp, Europe, Middle East & Africa, at Comcast International Media Group, where he led a team which developed E! and other Comcast channels throughout the region.

Earlier, Wald held a senior executive position at Liberty Media’s The Box Worldwide, as well as roles at Paramount Pictures, Turner Pictures and Videotron’s OpTel.
