Lancaster in talks for Fox drama role

NBC Universal TV Studio's drama chief Laura Lancaster is in talks to take the reins of Fox's drama department, sources said.

She would replace Ted Gold, who resigned last week.

Lancaster, a well regarded development executive, is working out her exit from NBC Uni TV Studio where she has been since its inception following the merger of NBC and Universal in 2004.

Rumored to replace Lancaster as senior vp drama at the studio is vp Elisa Roth. Lancaster and Roth were drama co-chiefs at Universal TV before segueing to NBC Uni TV.

Lancaster has strong ties with Fox, having been the development executive on the network's hit drama "House" at Universal TV.

She was named senior vp drama at NBC Uni TV in January 2006, succeeding Katherine Pope, who moved to NBC. Pope recently returned to NBC Uni TV Studio as president.

Under Lancaster's watch, NBC Uni TV developed such series as freshman hit "Heroes" and the critically acclaimed "Friday Night Lights."
