Just for Laughs finds 'Funny People'

Judd Apatow comedy to topline film festival

TORONTO -- Universal Pictures' "Funny People," from writer-director Judd Apatow, will topline the Just for Laughs film festival, organizers said Monday.

Co-stars Aziz Ansari and Aubrey Plaza will both be on hand for the July 25 sneak preview of the comedy-drama before it hits theaters on July 31.

Other Just for Laughs film titles include Bobcat Goldthwait's "World's Greatest Dad," which stars Robin Williams, and Kevin Heffernan's "Broken Lizard's The Slammin' Salmon," featuring Broken Lizard members Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske.

Also Montreal-bound is Lynn Shelton's "Humpday," with Joshua Leonard in Montreal to publicize and the Sundance hit "Paper Heart," from writer-actor Charlyne Yi and director Nicholas Jasenovec.

And opening the JFL film sidebar is "OSS 117: Lost in Rio," the French comedy from Michel Hazanavicius, and starring Jean Dujardin as a quirky secret agent.

The festival is set to run from July 10-27, alongside the Just for Laughs comedy festival.
