Lava Bear Promotes Jennifer Semler to VP Production

The company behind David Michod's "The Rover" also ups Allison Warren to creative executive.

Lava Bear Films has promoted Jennifer Semler to vp production and Allison Warren to creative executive.

The pair will report to Lava Bear president Tory Metzger.

Semler, who joined the company at its inception, will oversee the line producers of Lava Bear’s films as well as post-production aspects of the company’s slate. She also will liaise with the production divisions of each studio with which the company has a relationship and with sales companies handling Lava Bear projects overseas. She recently completed work on David Michod's The Rover and is currently working on Lava Bear's production of Jason Zada's The Forest.

In her new role as creative executive, Warren will find new projects while working in step with Metzger and Lava Bear founder David Linde to expand the company's development and production slate.

"We are very proud of the great work both Jennifer and Allison have contributed to Lava Bear's evolution and proud of their promotions," Metzger said. "In their new roles, they will be integral in furthering the growth of our development slate."

Semler most recently was director of production for Lava Bear. In 2010, during the creation of Lava Bear, Semler worked closely with Linde on films for which he has served in a producing capacity including Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's Biutiful, Fernando Meirelles' 360 and Zhang Yimou's The Flowers of War. Previously Semler was a writers’ assistant for America’s Funniest Home Videos for five seasons and also produced several segments for the series. She also was an associate producer for the syndicated TV show That’s Funny.

Warren was Linde's assistant at Lava Bear. She joined the company after serving as an assistant in development at Fox 2000.

Lava Bear premiered two films in the Official Selection of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival: The Rover and Zhang's Coming Home. The company's upcoming slate includes Denis Villeneuve's The Story of Your Life, starring Amy Adams, and Jonas Cuaron's Forsaken.
