Front Row Report, Herve Leger: Laverne Cox Prefers the Bodycon Dress
And she looks good in one, too
When it comes to dressing up for a sexy night out (or just to look, uh, Beyonce sexy), there's no other fashion house who does the job better than Herve Leger by Max Azria with its signature bandage dresses. For the brand's New York Fashion Week show on Saturday, it was no different — the spring 2015 collection featured multi patterned bodycon pieces with beaded embellishments and metal crochet details.
Among one of the front-row attendees caught marveling at the runway looks during the show was Laverne Cox, who arrived for the show in one of the brand's long-sleeve bandage dresses. While the Orange Is the New Black actress wore a Grecian draped gown designed by Marc Bouwer for this year's Emmys, Cox said she's "more of a bodycon kind of girl."
"That was totally different for me, but it was fun," she told Pret-a-Reporter of wearing the flowy dress to the award show. "I wear a lot of Herve Leger and some people tell me I wear too many bandage dresses, but I wore Herve Leger on the cover of Time magazine and I own several Herve Leger dresses."
Meanwhile, two seats down from Cox, Blue Blood actress Sami Gayle joked about the tightness of her strapless embellished bandage dress. "It hugs all my curves," she noted. "But this dress makes me feel sexy, elegant and classy all at the same time, which I think is what every girl wants."
Though she looked like she wore the hip-hugging piece with ease, Gayle told us that she tends to "shy away from super short, super tight stuff. I always like to wear things that my grandmother would approve of. That's sort of my rule of thumb." Luckily, grandma wasn't there.
