'Law & Order: SVU's' Neal Baer Inks Pod Deal at 20th Century Fox TV
The former 'Under the Dome' showrunner will focus on both broadcast and cable for the studio.
Neal Baer has found a new home at 20th Century Fox Television.
The seven-time Emmy nominee and his Baer Bones Productions have inked a pod deal with the studio. As part of the multiyear pact, he’ll exclusively develop cable and network fare for 20th TV. The producer, whose résumé includes lengthy stints on hit series ER and Law & Order: SVU, was previously housed at CBS TV Studios, where he ran summer series Under the Dome.
“Neal is a visionary producer whose brand combines intelligence, suspense, spellbinding characters and enormous commercial appeal,” 20th TV’s president of creative affairs Jonnie Davis said Wednesday in a statement announcing the news. “We’ve been anxious to work with him for years and we’re excited to have him bring his eagle eye for great material and his skills as a showrunner to our development efforts.”
To be sure, Baer’s interests run far beyond TV. In addition to writing and producing, the M.D. from Harvard is also a novelist, philanthropist and founder of UCLA’s Global Media Center for Social Impact.
Baer, whose other credits include CBS' short-lived medical drama A Gifted Man, is repped by UTA and attorney Michael Gendler. Jessica Shulman will continue to run his company.
